Come to Korea was built to solve a problem I saw first-hand: a lack of clear, practical, English-language information for navigating life in Korea.
Who is behind this?
Hi, I'm Daniel Kim. I grew up in the United States and recently moved back to Korea. As Korea's global popularity has surged over the past few years, I've seen more and more friends, colleagues, and acquaintances make the jump to visit, study, or work here.
What I noticed, time and time again, was that despite Korea's incredible digital infrastructure, the initial learning curve for foreigners is exceptionally steep. Information about visas, housing deposits (jeonse/wolse), healthcare (NHIS), and banking is often scattered, outdated, or buried in dense bureaucratic language.
Why this site exists
I started this site to be the orientation manual I wish my friends had on day one. The goal is simple: to translate complex, critical information into plain English, while always pointing you directly to the official, authoritative sources.
Whether you're an English teacher landing on an E-2 visa, a student coming for a language program, or an expat relocating for business, I hope this guide helps smooth your transition and makes settling into this incredible country a little bit easier.
