Plainly stated
Privacy Policy
Come to Korea is an informational website. We try to collect as little about you as possible, and never sell anything we do collect. This page explains exactly what we keep and why.
What we collect
We collect only what is necessary to operate the site and understand whether our content is useful:
- Aggregate visit data via Google Analytics — pages viewed, country, device type, referrer. This is only collected if you accept analytics cookies. It is anonymous; we cannot identify you personally from it.
- Your email address — only if you choose to subscribe to our newsletter. We use it for nothing else.
- Standard server logs — IP address, browser, and request time, kept briefly by our hosting provider (Vercel) for security and abuse prevention.
What we do not collect
- We do not require an account to read anything on the site.
- We do not track you across other websites.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties.
- We do not run affiliate links or referral tracking.
Cookies
We use two categories of cookies:
- Essential — remembers your theme preference (light/dark) and whether you've dismissed the newsletter popup. No personal data, never shared.
- Analytics — Google Analytics cookies, only set if you click "Accept" on the cookie banner. You can change your mind anytime by clearing your browser's site data.
We may add a third category, Advertising, if and when we integrate Google AdSense. We will update this page and the cookie banner before we do.
Newsletter
If you subscribe via the newsletter popup, your email address is stored by our newsletter provider for the sole purpose of sending you occasional updates about Korea-related changes. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe. We do not send promotional content from third parties.
Outbound links
Most of the site is links to government and service websites in Korea. We have no control over what those sites do with your data once you click through. Read their own privacy policies.
Your rights
Under GDPR (if you are in the EU/UK), Korea's PIPA, and similar laws elsewhere, you can ask us to:
- Tell you what data we hold about you (effectively just your email if you subscribed).
- Delete it.
- Stop processing it.
Email us at hello@cometokorea.org for any of these.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything material, we will update the "last reviewed" date below and, where possible, notify newsletter subscribers.
